not dead. yet

By thenoblesavage

i haven’t fallen off the face of the earth, in case anyone was wondering. i came down with a heavy cold two days before christmas and didn’t recover fully until two days after, which is the precise moment when the noble child decided to get a stomach virus and have explosive diarrhea for three days. lovely. at one point we had to stop the car and change her diaper on the tailgate of our friend’s truck and i almost threw up because i was feeling carsick and woozy and we had to walk around for ages looking for a bin to throw the dirty nappy in.

then, the noble husband decided that *he* would get the stomach virus too and start hurling and clawing his way to the toilet every 30 minutes on new year’s day. again, lovely. he’s been off work for two days now and i’ve been playing nursemaid to him and taking care of the bebe and the house, etc..

surprisingly, i have remained calm and cheery for the most part, aside from new year’s day when i was stuck at my inlaws’ house until 5pm with no help with the two sicklings. i was cranky because i hadn’t showered. when i don’t shower i get pissy. dirty = crabby. unless it’s glastonbury and i’m in a field ingesting paper tabs of acid with 45 year-old hippies and then holding hands with people who have constructed a ‘fun bus’ entirely out of cardboard, mesh onion bags and handmade stop signs. then not showering is okay. for five days. but that is the only exception.

more to come once the hubs is better and back to work. until then i can’t slack off too much. florence nightingale has *nothing* on me.

p.s. — the lack of capitalization is due to spilling coffee on my keyboard, rendering the left shift key unusable. i’m too lazy to retrain myself to use the one on the right so for the foreseeable future just get used to lower-case posts.
